Pottery Course - Pottery Weekend

Enjoy this opportunity to make pots in a real potter's workshop. This hands-on course gives you maximum time on the potters' wheel. All abilities are catered for and everyone takes away a pot or two of their own making. It really is the most relaxing and enjoyable way to spend a weekend!

Mushroom Foraging Weekend
Friday 25th (evening), Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th and Monday 28th (morning) September 2009

Residential break Mushroom Foraging in Scotland.

Search for fungi in the Crieff countryside, under bracken, in grass or on trees, at a beautiful time in autumnal Perthshire. Boletes, chanterelles, beefsteak fungus and Chicken of the woods can all be found in the area. Patrick Harding will teach you how to identify the mushrooms, and how to determine which ones are edible. David will provide a good fry-up with those picked.

Learn the techniques of cutting and nipping tiles and other ceramic items to create several pieces of mosaic art. This art holiday will give you the basic skills to create wall panels and mirror frames in the class and give you the courage to extend your skills once at home. Wild Clock Making weekend

Create a wild wall clock using mostly recycled card & paper (and clock mechanisms) which will become a real talking piece. The processes will incorporate decoupage, stitchwork and embellishing with additional materials.

Weekend break bed and breakfast and Mosaic course

A mosaic workshop focusing specifically on frost resistant outdoor mosaics, in anticipation of a glorious summer in the garden. This craft course uses such diverse materials as slate, plant pots and concrete along with stones, porcelain and glass to create stepping stones, bird baths or wall slates.

Flowers, Forests & Foraging For Free Food - with Patrick Harding

This course will help people to identify Britain’s native trees and some of the local wild flowers but, far from being just about names, it will concentrate on the uses of the plants found – wood products, medicinal herbs and wild plants that can provide us with both food and drink. Here is a chance to enhance the pleasure of garden flowers through painting, on a residential course at Galvelmore House (and garden). Jean will guide you through drawing and painting techniques helping you create art work based on flowers from Katy and David’s large garden. Teaching sessions will take place either in the garden with its extensive flower beds (weather permitting), or in a designated teaching room in the house. This class will run simultaneously with Flowers, Forests & Foraging For Free Food with Patrick Harding.

Words from the Woods
Monday 11th - Friday 15th October 2010

Be inspired by the autumnal woodlands that surround Crieff. Incorporating gentle walks to gain the inspiration, paper making, printing and book making to create your own journal of the week. The creative process of writing is also included, though not compulsory.
