Glenturret Distillery, and the Famous Grouse Experience
Sorry, but we have to start with Scotland's oldest distillery, where the Glenturret malt whisky is made. At the Famous Grouse Experience, you can learn the secrets of the Famous Grouse whisky, test your senses - try to become a 'whisky nose', and have a guided tour of the buildings, with a free dram at the end. There is also a good restaurant, both self-service and table service, and bar.
Whilst being a mile or two from Crieff, there is a pleasant walk to the Distillery, through the Macrosty Park, and through a woodland trail, so should you wish to taste and taste and taste…
Huntingtower Castle
Revisit the past at this impressive castle, located on the outskirts of Perth. It has two fine and complete towers, one of the 15th to 16th Century date, the other of 16th Century origin.
Ardoch Roman Camp
Near Braco, the Roman Camp is one of the largest Roman stations in Britain, with substantial earthworks dating from the 2nd Century
Fowlis Wester Kirk
St Bean's Kirk dates back to the 13th Century, with an original Pictish Symbol Stone incorporated inside. It is a small, but very interesting church, and is located in an idyllic village.
Tullibardine Chapel
South West of Crieff, this small chapel is a complete 15th and 16th Century Cruciform Church built by the Murray of Tullibardine family.
Innerpeffray Library
5 miles SE of Crieff. The oldest existing public library in Scotland, founded by Lord Madderty in 1680. Various books on display, and informative and enthusiastic curators. There is also a small chapel adjacent, worth visiting.
Earthquake House
Outside Comrie, this small building was where the world's first seismometers were set up in Victorian times, as the geological position of Comrie caused it to experience many earth tremors. Replicas of the recording equipment used are on display.
