In this day and age, when it is not pc to use a plastic bag, enjoy this residential class with the aim of creating two distinctive bags - one of which could be your next shopping bag! And all recycled materials too!

Using some quick and easy patchwork and applique techniques, you will create unique and colourful textile surfaces out of an eclectic range of textile scraps. On the second day you will cut up and re-join these to make two styles of bag from the range of simple patterns provided. With the addition of the likes of cords, ribbons and buttons, the bags you make will celebrate your individual style.

You could bring any special bits of cloth with you (baby clothes, wedding dress etc) or have a rummage in the mountains of cloth provided by Katy or Jan (the tutor). Using various cutting and joining techniques, which Jan will teach you and then appliquéing and quilting on top, you will achieve the finished article.

The best results come from being flexible in your approach, without a set plan of how your bags should look at the end. Developing ideas as the bags evolve allows for a better learning experience, and a more successful design. Celebrate your individual style!

All materials are provided. This course is suitable for both beginner and experienced sewers.
